Police: Steelers’ Brown involved in domestic dispute

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown , a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, was involved in a domestic dispute in January, the police department in this South Florida city confirmed.

Hollywood Police Department spokeswoman Miranda Grossman said Tuesday that no further comment would be made about the incident at this time.

Darren Heitner, the attorney for the 30-year-old Brown, issued a statement in response to the allegations, saying they are “baseless and false.”

“It’s unfortunate that the media is trying to use distractions like this and prior stories in an effort to tarnish my client’s name and reputation. We have no further comment,” he added.

The Steelers also issued a statement saying they are aware of the alleged incident but are “still in the process of gathering more information.”

Brown is already in legal trouble stemming from another alleged incident last April in South Florida in which he purportedly became upset with security personnel and threw furniture and other objects from a 14th-floor balcony of his luxury apartment at The Mansions at Acqualina.

One lawsuit filed by the guardian of a two-year-old boy claims the items nearly struck the toddler and his grandfather and accuses Brown of “intentional infliction of emotional distress and assault.”

Another suit was filed by the owner of the condominium, who claims Brown caused thousands of dollars in damage and breached his lease agreement.

Brown said in October that the lawsuits contain “false claims” and that the “facts will soon come out that prove my innocence.”

One of the greatest wide receivers of his generation, Brown set a National Football League (NFL) record by tallying 100 or more receptions in six consecutive seasons.

He also led the NFL in receiving yards (1,834) in 2015 and has recorded six other seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving.

Brown ranks 28th all-time with 837 career receptions and 34th all-time with 11,207 career receiving yards.

In addition to being selected to the Pro Bowl on seven occasions, Brown also has been first-team All-Pro four times (2014-2017).

Despite all of his accomplishments, the Steelers have reportedly been exploring trade possibilities involving Brown after he did not show up for a walk-through on Dec. 29, the day before his team’s final 2018 regular season game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Earlier that week, Brown was reportedly involved in a heated dispute during practice that also involved the Steelers’ longtime star quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger .
