Independiente Medellin and Deportes Tolima played to a 2-2 draw in an intense Colombian league semifinals match that featured outstanding play by both sides.

Defending champion Tolima did not waste any time in getting on the scoreboard in Wednesday’s match.

Eight minutes into the match, Independiente Medellin goalkeeper David Gonzalez stopped Yohandry Orozco’s shot, but the ball bounced off the pole and Marco Perez scored the first goal of the match.

In the second half, Medellin lit up the scoreboard with two goals in less than nine minutes on a powerful shot by Larry Angulo and a crossing shot by Juan Fernando Caicedo.

Just when it looked like Medellin was about to win, Elvis Perlaza committed a penalty by knocking down Omar Albornoz.

Seconds before the 90th minute, Rafael Carrascal scored from 11 meters away, making the score 2-2.

The second leg of this series will be played on Nov. 25, while the first leg of the other semifinal series, which pits Rionegro Aguilas against Junior, will be played on Thursday.
