Guarani beat Resistencia, an Intermediate Division club, in the Copa Paraguay semifinals, advancing to the championship match against Olimpia.
Guarani won Tuesday's semifinals match in a penalty shootout 5-4 against Resistencia after playing to a 1-1 draw in the first 90 minutes.
Resistencia got on the scoreboard first when Luis de la Cruz nailed a goal from the center.
Guarani's Robert Rojas tied the score at 1-1 in the 15th minute.
Resistencia lived up to its name - resistance in Spanish - holding on until the end of the penalty shots.
Guarani goalkeeper Victor Centurion stopped Bruno Mendieta's shot, winning the match for his side.
Guarani will play in the Copa Paraguay final against Olimpia, which beat Sportivo Luqueño 3-1.
The champion of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 Copa Sudamericana.
