Two down, five to go? Chris Pratt is in early talks to join Denzel Washington in MGM’s remake of “The Magnificent Seven,” the Los Angeles Times has confirmed.

Deadline Hollywood first reported the news that Pratt, the 35-year-old funnyman turned action hero, is circling director Antoine Fuqua’s remake of the classic western.

After establishing himself as a lovable goofball on TV’s “Parks and Recreation,” Pratt has become something of an unlikely swashbuckler with movies like “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Zero Dark Thirty” and the upcoming “Jurassic World.”

The original “Magnificent Seven,” released in 1960, was directed by John Sturges and starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson as members of a band of gunslingers defending an oppressed town from outlaws. The film was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai.”

Fuqua’s take will reunite him with Washington, with whom he made “Training Day” and “The Equalizer.”
