Patrick J. McDonnell


Patrick J. McDonnell is the Mexico City bureau chief for the Los Angeles Times. Previously he covered the Middle East as bureau chief in Beirut, focusing on Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Turkey. He served as The Times' bureau chief in Buenos Aires and Baghdad and also covered immigration issues and the U.S.-Mexico border. McDonnell is a native of the Bronx, where he majored in Irish-American studies. He is a graduate of New York University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, was a Nieman fellow at Harvard University and a 2014 Pulitzer finalist in international reporting for coverage from inside Syria.
